Third Grade

Dear Families,

A new school year brings with it the anticipation of seeing old friends and making new ones, the challenge of learning new things, and of course a new teacher. I consider it a privilege to work with your children this year. I am looking forward to getting to know each of you and opening an exciting, new chapter of learning for your child. We will be covering many new concepts such as multiplication, division and fractions in math. We will explore the world around us in Science by learning about our central nervous system, plants, vertebrates and invertebrates along with many other areas of study. History will take us into the world of Christopher Columbus, Pocahontas, William Penn and many other great men and women who helped shape our nation as well as map skills. Their language will be enhanced through reading fiction and non-fiction, poetry, literary circles, spelling and vocabulary. The grammar portion of the program will cover parts of speech, punctuation, and dictionary skills. There will be many opportunities for journal writing, letter writing, story writing and the use of writing in other daily functions. We will encompass the Word of God in all our activities while learning scriptures and their applications for daily living.
